COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1969.

COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (OFFICERS' TRAVELLING EXPENSES AND MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1969.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 28 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931) and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ), hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) applies to these Regulations.

3. (1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) of this Article, the Schedule to the Committees of Agriculture (Officers' Travelling Expenses and Maintenance Allowance and Expenses) Regulations, 1965 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1965 ), shall be amended as follows :

(a) in paragraph 4 (1) (e) " one shilling " and " sixpence half-penny " are hereby substituted for " tenpence " and " five-pence farthing " respectively;

(b) in paragraph 4 (1) (f) " one shilling and one penny half-penny " and " sevenpence " are hereby substituted for " elevenpence farthing " and " fivepence three farthings " respectively;

(c) in paragraph 4 (1) (g) " one shilling and two pence three farthings " and " ninepence " are hereby substituted for " one shilling " and " sevenpence farthing " respectively; and

(d) the following is hereby substituted for paragraph 5--

" 5. (1) subject to the provisions of this paragraph a maintenance allowance of £95 per annum towards subsistence expenses shall be granted and paid by a Committee to Chief Agricultural Officers, Deputy Chief Agricultural Officers, Instructors in Agriculture, Instructors in Horticulture and Bee-keeping, Instructors in Forestry, County Foresters and Instructors in Poultry-keeping and Butter-making in respect of travelling within the county in the course of their official duties.

(2) Whenever any of the officers mentioned in subparagraph (1) of this paragraph are, in any period of twelve months, absent from their duties for more than six weeks on account of sick leave or for a period or periods of sick and annual leave which together amount to more than eight weeks, the said sum of £95 mentioned in subparagraph (1) shall be so reduced that the sum by which the said sum of £95 is reduced shall bear the same proportion to £95 as the period of sick leave in excess of six weeks or the period of sick leave and annual leave in excess of eight weeks (as the case may be) bears to the said period of twelve months."

(2) Subparagraphs (a), (b) and (c) of paragraph (1) of this Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1968.

(3) Paragraph 1) (d) of this Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1968.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations provide for increases in rates of travelling expenses payable to Officers of Committees of Agriculture as from 1st January, 1968, and also for the payment, as from 1st November, 1968, of an increased maintenance allowance of £95 per annum to Instructors in Poultry-keeping and Butter-making under Committees of Agriculture.
